Cookie policy

Last updated 29 September 2026

Mindbird sets three cookies. All three are strictly necessary — they exist to sign you in and keep you signed in safely. There are no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, and nothing that follows you to another website.

The cookies

wa_admin_sessionKeeps you signed in. Set when you sign in, cleared when you sign out, and expires after 7 days. Without it every page would ask for your password again.
wa_pk_challengeA short-lived, single-use value used while registering or using a passkey. It exists for seconds and is deleted as soon as the passkey step finishes.
mb_impersonateOnly ever set when the platform operator is viewing a customer workspace for support. That session is read-only. It is never set during ordinary use.

All three are HttpOnly, so page scripts cannot read them; Secure, so they travel only over HTTPS; and SameSite, so another site cannot cause your browser to send them.

Why there is no cookie banner

Consent is required for cookies that are not necessary to provide the service you asked for — advertising, cross-site tracking and audience measurement. This service sets none of those, so there is nothing to ask permission for. A banner here would be asking you to consent to your own login.

If that ever changes — if an analytics or advertising tool is added — consent will be asked for before it loads, not after, and this page will say so first.

Things stored in your browser that are not cookies

A few values are kept in your browser's local storage rather than sent to us as cookies. They stay on your device:

Website chat visitor idA random identifier the chat widget creates so a conversation continues if you reload the page. It is not linked to any advertising profile.
Campaign source (utm)Where a chat visitor arrived from, so the business can tell which of their own links is working. Only set if the visitor arrived through a tagged link.
Interface preferencesSmall conveniences for signed-in staff, such as favourite message templates. Never personal data about your customers.

You can clear all of it at any time through your browser's “clear site data” option. Clearing it signs you out and starts a new chat session; nothing else is lost.

Cookies set by other companies

When a message travels through WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook, Meta applies its own policies on its own surfaces — but that happens inside Meta's apps, not on this site. This site embeds no third-party scripts, no social buttons, no video players and no advertising tags, so no other company sets a cookie through it.
